Japanese Culture Shines in “Japan Parade” in New York City

On May 11, the “Japan Parade” was held in New York City, attracting a large crowd.

About 100 groups, including Shingo Kunieda, who won the Paralympic Games and four major championships in wheelchair tennis, participated in the event and introduced Japanese culture, including dance and anime.

The audience expressed their delight at feeling at home and being able to celebrate Japanese culture together.

Consul General Mikio Mori commented, “The theme of the festival is to share diverse Japanese culture and their respective values.

This year, the mayor of Yamaguchi City, which was selected as one of the “52 Places to Go in 2024” by the New York Times, joined the event to promote local attractions.
