Car enthusiasts will love it! Japanese ASICS shoes are made from the material used in ‘that part’ of the car.
On 1 February, ASICS launched SKYHAND OG, a shoe made from reused automotive leather scraps. The heel and side parts are made from leather that was to be discarded in the process of manufacturing automobile steering wheels, and were developed jointly with Toyoda Gosei Co.
The scrap leather was generated at a factory in Vietnam, reducing waste and carbon dioxide emissions during transportation. This is the second collaboration between ASICS and Toyoda Gosei, which also developed trainers utilising airbag fabric in 2023. The shoes are now available in ASICS shops and online.
